14 YEAR OLD GIRL DIES IN DEMONS EXORCISING EXERCISE

  A 14 year old girl of Mumbwa has been burnt to death as a religious leader and six other men including the girl’s father were conducting a procedure to exorcise alleged demons from her. Central Province Police Commanding Officer, Donald Mwandila says the girl’s 35 year old father identified as, Gift Siyainga Mbulo Michelo and five others took the girl to an Evangelist at Zion Church, Pancho Shimangwala to perform some rituals to exorcise the demons. He says the girl was made to sit on the ground and a pot containing hot stones placed between her legs. Mr. Mwandila says then the girl’s father was asked to pour spirit and vinegar into to the pot containing the hot stones, then covered the girl in a blanket, which the other five men held tightly for the steam not to go out. He says due to this process preliminary investigations indicate the girl got burnt and suffocated to death. ZESCO CONFIRMS REMOVAL OF SUBSIDIES ON CONNECTION FEES

 ZESCO CONFIRMS REMOVAL OF SUBSIDIES ON CONNECTION FEES ZESCO Limited has confirmed the removal of subsidies on electricity connection fees which has seen an upward adjustment from K1,700 to K6, 995 for high density undemarcated townships. The power utility company has also increased the cost of meter separation from K750 to K6000. ZESCO limited corporate affairs manager John Kunda says the removal of subsidies on new connections and meter separation fees is with immediate effect.  Other news click here Dr. Kunda explains that the removal of subsidies does not require the Energy Regulation Board-ERB to approve as it is reflected within the parameters of ZESCO limited. He says what zesco has done is to remove the subsidy, which cushioned the cost of connections and reduced the cost, but going forward customs will with immediate effect be required to pay true reflective cost of the connection.

Businessman shoots guard who stopped him from urinating on a building

A Luanshya businessman has shot an Armsafety security guard who attempted to stop him from urinating at the Workers Compensation House in Luanshya. Daily Star Zambia reports that the 24-year-old security guard is nursing a gunshot wound at Thomson General Hospital. Acting Copperbelt Commanding Officer Tresphord Kasale said the incident happened on Sunday night. Appetite for guavas leads to loss of a life in Kafue

A 14 year old boy of Zambia Compound in Kafue has died after a crocodile snatches him from a Guava tree along the banks of the Kafue as he tried to pluck guava fruits. Kafue Police Officer In-Charge Jason Lungu confirmed the incident but could however not give further details of the ordeal. Sources close to the matter told Kafue Times that the deceased identified as Arnold Hamoonga together with his friend were sent to Naluama across Kafue River to deliver some goods at around 07:00hours.
